Our client is a market leader providing local products and services that meet international standards in both medium and low voltage assemblies. They currently have a vacancy for a Project Engineer to join their team.

The successful incumbent will hold a tertiary qualification in electrical engineering, have knowledge of LV switchgear assemblies as well as the ability to understand and edit general arrangement drawings and electrical schematics. Ability to work on CAD and at least one other engineering computer programme is essential.

Position details:

Operations and Technical Administration Support
Receive job file from engineering and review all information pertaining to the project.
Arrange and chair kick-off meetings.
Review all client documents, electrical schematics, general arrangement drawings, Bill of Materials, Siemens and Company standards to determine technical and commercial adequacy of the project.
Apply principles of product and resource selection and estimating time required to manufacture the product to determine variation costs of an order.
Analyse changes in product configuration, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided to determine effects on costs and delivery time.
Pre-approve all engineering changes prior to BOM changes and ordering.
Review, edit (red-line) and create electrical schematics for manufacture.
Create project schedule based on QCP, Company and client specifications and information.
Work closely with production to ensure project is on track with client delivery date and edit MS project schedule as required.

ISO Documentation
Ensure ISO processes are followed for operations department.
Ensure all ISO documentation is completed for job file. Transmittal documentations for documentation flow, works order for changes, variation orders, and client concession forms.
Assist in setting up and management of the process and documentation for the operations department.

Quality Control and Testing
Arrange with the client for all QC witness and verification hold points and factory acceptance testing and communicate information with QC department.
Attend factory acceptance test, where necessary.
Assist QC and testing team with technician issues, where necessary.
Assist with ensuring the correct documentation is available at QC witness and verification hold points and factory acceptance testing.

Job Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

Matric certificate or NQF equivalent.
Tertiary qualification in electrical engineering.
Must be able to work on CAD and at least one other engineering computer programme.
Must be able to work on Microsoft office suite.
Knowledge on LV switchgear assemblies.
Understand and edit general arrangement drawings and electrical schematics.
Must know how to test LV switchgear and conduct a F.A.T.
Must know how to meet customer requirements.
